Full course description
First responders and healthcare professionals are on the front lines of the opioid crisis and frequently encounter overdose, substance-related harm, and the complex medical and social consequences that follow. This one-hour continuing education course introduces life-preserving care as an evidence-based, safety-focused framework that reduces preventable injury and death while supporting long-term recovery. This training is designed specifically for EMS, law enforcement, fire service personnel, corrections officers, nurses, behavioral health providers, and other healthcare professionals who respond to substance-related emergencies. Participants will gain a clear understanding of how life-preserving strategies, including overdose reversal, medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD), infection prevention, and access to care, improve responder safety, reduce repeat crises, and stabilize communities.
