Full course description

Welcome to Fundamentals of Epidemiology. This is a self-paced course. Completing all modules is required to pass the course. Learning Objectives: 1. Define public health and its main functions 2. Identify the role of public health in a pandemic response 3. Understand epidemiology as a foundational component of public health. Before you begin, you will be asked to complete a pre-test which is required to gain access to the course content. This is only to gauge your previous knowledge of the topic area and the results will not be counted toward any part of your grade. Each module of the course covers individual topics through a series of recorded presentations. Each module is meant to be completed in about an hour. After most modules, there will be a short knowledge check. These are graded activities and you will need an average of 75 percent or above to pass each section of the course and the course overall. This course is for your self-development and as part of a community-wide effort to prepare and respond to future pandemics. For your convenience, it has been structured to be completed at your own pace. Thank you for your participation and contribution to the effort to keep Texas healthy.
